Bio
Dr Nicola Rooney is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Bristol in the UK, where she leads an MSc programme in Global Wildlife Health and Conservation. She has carried out a wide range of research into the behaviour and welfare of many species of animals including a l large programme of work on working dog performance and welfare. Her research findings have been incorporated into both dog handler training and welfare policy worldwide.
Nicola has also researched (and is proud to have rehomed) a range of other species including guinea pigs and rabbits. In addition, she has worked as a consultant to the RSPCA , advising and writing numerous reports and information resources on the welfare of numerous species. She is currently independent adviser to a multi-stakeholder group formulating the UK Strategy for Rabbit Welfare. Today she will talk about some findings from two -ear RSPCA funded research programme on rabbit welfare carried out by herself and other members of the Animal Welfare and Behaviour team at Bristol.
