Bio

Lizzie joined the RCVS, the UK regulatory body for veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses, in February 2005 as Head of Communications, bringing with her 13 years' experience working in agricultural, environmental and veterinary marketing communications both in the UK and across Europe. She later became RCVS Director of Strategic Communications. In autumn 2014, Lizzie set up the Mind Matters Initiative (MMI), to make a difference to the mental health and wellbeing of members of the veterinary team. Lizzie took up the role of Acting CEO in September 2017 and was appointed CEO in November 2017. She has been instrumental in modernising the governance of the RCVS, driving change around diversity and inclusion, pushing for greater compassion in regulation, and supporting mental health. Lizzie is a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations and holds a degree in English from St John’s College, Oxford. She is a Trustee of the Mental Health Foundation, a Director of the Veterinary Policy Research Foundation and a Trustee of RCVS Knowledge.
