Bio

Ingrid Hang graduated her veterinary medicine studies at Estonian University of Life Sciences in 2006. During her studies she had an opportunity to be as an Erasmus student one year in Portugal at the University of Vasco da Gama. In addition, she gathered valuable knowledge in
England (The Royal Veterinary College), Norway and Sweden. After graduation she worked for a while in Estonia as a small animal veterinarian.
During the years 2007-2015 Ingrid Hang was occupied with achieving a doctoral degree at the University of Helsinki. Year 2015 she defended her thesis about effects of diet on the intestinal microbiota, bacteria-derived metabolites and digestive enzymes in dogs in co-operation of the
Gastrointestinal Laboratory at the Texas A&M University, USA.

Since 2015 she has been a lecturer of Small Animal Gastroenterology at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the Estonian University of Life Sciences. Ingrid Hang is also active in veterinary private practice, working in Tallinn and at the Small Animal Clinic of Estonian University of Life Sciences. She has a clinical interest in small animal gastroenterology, diagnostic imaging and clinical nutrition.

Ingrid Hang has devoted her time to veterinary medicine outside the clinical work, too. She has organised many veterinary CPD events and has been lecturing for veterinary colleagues from different countries (mainly Baltics, but also Ukraine and Armenia). Ingrid has been a president
of the Estonian Small Animal Veterinary Association (ESAVA) during 2018 -2021 and a board member during 2015-2021. Ingrid has been also the representative of ESAVA in FECAVA and WSAVA. She is also a member of European Society of Comparative Gastroenterology.
In her free time she likes to travel (not so easy lately), restore the furniture and develop the skill in interior design.
