Bio

Chris Palgrave graduated as a vet from the University of Edinburgh, where he also completed an intercalated BSc (Hons) and PhD in comparative pathology and immunogenetics. He worked for a year in mixed (predominantly dairy) practice in rural Pennsylvania, USA, before attending the
Veterinary Anatomic Pathology Residency Program at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, USA.

Chris returned to the UK as a Lecturer in Veterinary Pathology at the University of Edinburgh before moving to the University of Bristol as a Senior Lecturer. After two years gaining experience in a commercial diagnostic laboratory (Bridge Pathology), Chris joined the new veterinary school at
the University of Surrey where he helped to establish the veterinary pathology curriculum and Surrey Veterinary Pathology Centre. Chris is an experienced teacher at both an undergraduate and postgraduate level; he also enjoys providing pathology expertise and support to clinicians wishing to publish their cases studies, case series and clinical research. Chris has broad diagnostic experience across farm, equine and small animals and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists and the Higher Education Academy. In his spare time, Chris is a keen beekeeper and
member of the British Bee Veterinary Association. He is involved in a number of projects on honeybee/pollinator husbandry, health and disease. Chris joined the team at IDEXX in 2018.
