Description
This lecture is a journey through the gastrointestinal tract: from normal structure recognition to the subtle and not-so-subtle deviations that signal disease. This lecture explores what “normal” truly looks like sonographically, and how to recognize when something is abnormal. Learn to follow the normal gut into abnormal or obstructive presentations, distinguish tissue densities and masses from foreign bodies, and identify the sonographic hallmarks of common GI pathologies. Gain the confidence to interpret the gut from the inside out, one probe movement at a time.
Learning Objectives
- Normal vs. abnormal in the gastrointestinal tract on sonogram
- Follow normal curvilinear structures into abnormal or obstructive presentations
- Recognize tissue densities/masses vs. a foreign body
- Treating each presentation: pancreas and G.I. tract
- The significance of “fluffy” inflammatory fat and enlarged mesenteric lymph nodes
