So we're gonna talk very quickly about the Veterinary Green Awards and then talk to you a little bit about the Veterinary Green discussion forum in south of France in June, so you're aware of that. If it's not appropriate for you, please do tell other people in your network. Be great just while we're doing that, for, for people to put into the chat box where you're listening from.
The last 3 years we've done the veterinary green discussion forum in the UK. But then we're very excited when Royal Cannon said we'd love you to bring it down close to us in the south of France. This is very much .
A number of of businesses and individuals, large and small, coming to it, but it the the attempt was to bring, You know, movers and shakers of the profession together in this area to see how can we move things more quickly, to, to improve the the veterinary input into conservation and so on and, and all the challenges that we do face. So I don't know whether Rebecca or Amelia can put the presentation up of the slides for the Veterinary green discussion forum. And then we're gonna move into.
The, veterinary Trust awards that we've run for probably close to 10 years now, those companies that, you, the vets and nurses are voting for, so, . We usually run that at the London . That show, we have a pizza and prosecco evening and we celebrate those companies that you, the vets and nurses love to work with.
And we're going to do that at the end of this presentation, and Alan Robinson, who's a good mate of mine, a veterinary management guru, he's a vet as well. We've been good friends for a number of years. He, he runs Vet Dynamics along with colleagues.
And he will be taking us through that, and I'm hoping Alan will also be at the Veterinary Green Awards. We've already got some firms, businesses and individuals coming forward to come to the event, but we want this to be very European in its flavour, so if you are based over in Europe, we still I still class myself as part of Europe, even though we've left the EU. I did vote to remain, just putting it out there, that if you can, get involved, then that would be great.
I think if we work together we can achieve so much more. So, moving on to the next slide, cause, we're, we're moving these forward. We're, we're introducing our fourth Veterinary Green Awards.
Submissions for the awards are now open, and I think the application form, one will be put in the chats, but we'll also send this out to everybody who's registered for this sustainability summit for the Doherty sustainability summit, just while I think on, obviously again thanking the sponsors. For this event, Royal Canon, Univets Global, and nationwide. This year, particularly for the for the awards for the green practise of the year, large and small.
We want to be particularly looking at how are you improving circularity in your business. In other words, how are you becoming a more circular business? How are you making sure that you're recycling more, using products for longer, repairing, regenerating natural systems.
This is all part of secularity. I did a certificate with Cambridge University, last year. And actually circular economy globally has decreased over the last 5 years.
It was 9%. It's now 7%. So we need to become more circular, and I'd love to see the veterinary profession as a whole double its circularity over the next five years till 2030.
We've also got the green individual, vet Profession of the Year, vet or nurse. And then there's gonna be an award that we will decide on ourselves internally with consultation on the Simon Doherty International Green Award. Which can be awarded to an individual, a practise, a business that's doing amazing work in the area of regeneration, rewilding, sustainability.
I think we're actually beyond sustainability now, we need to regenerate the world, we need to rewild, we need to regenerate the profession. So, Those awards you can now enter into and, and the winners of the Veterinary Green Awards will all win a ticket to the Veterinary Green Discussion Forum in 2025, which is being held on the next slide in the south of France, the 12th and 13th of June. So.
The theme of that congress forum is the 21st century sustainable vet practise. There's so much exciting stuff going on, but we need this to become not just the early adopters, but to become mainstream. And it's still, we're still at the early stages of vets, vet practises, realising the, the obligation and the responsibility that they have as a profession.
That's and nurses and business, to be at the forefront of the . Of solving the environmental crisis, we should be seen as part of the solution, not part of the problem. So we can send these slides to anybody who's interested.
Rosie's coming again from Coveres, they're doing some really amazing work and she really loved the presentation. She's the chief sustainability officer at Coveres. It's at the Domain demour again, we choose to put people into a natural area, as the guys were saying previously, when you put people in that area, they realise how important it is to save the natural world.
It's what happened with the Torrance family when they bought the pond. The two children are now in, in environmental work, and I think this is why with the forum, we do it in a natural place. Next slide please.
So working very much with Royal Cannon, Royal Cannon asked us to come down to the south of France. Royal Cannon are doing amazing stuff. And, you know, they are planning to cut their greenhouse gases by 50%.
By 2030, they're also working, as we discussed during their talk, with farmers to have regenerative practises in those farms, 46,000 hectares of land. And then of course Ellen MacArthur is the bible for circular economy, people looking at recycling and plastics and how we deal with those in a more responsible way, how we actually produce less virgin plastic, not more. So they're very much supporting the circular economy, where packaging never becomes waste, so very, very excited to have Royal Cannon partnering in in this .
In this endeavour So you can just see some slides, we can run through those quickly. We've worked with the Lancashire Wildlife Trust, with the Wildfowland Wetland Trust. You can see how it's grown over the three years.
There's Andy in the third picture, Evangeline in the middle with me, we, we actually in 2024, we, we had a game that we played around the UN Sustainable Development Goals. If the world was run by vets, would it be a better or worse place? What was interesting was, I can't explain the game all in in a couple of minutes, but basically by 2026.
We'd really made a lot of money, but we hadn't really helped social or environmental issues. And then we became all philanthropic and by 2030, yes indeed, the world was a better place. But I think we have to stop just considering philanthropy and working on the principle that as businesses are net positive, that what we're doing as a business is being a positive force for good.
With the environment, in the community, in the social things that we do, where do we buy our supplies from, are they ethically produced, etc. Etc. So it's a huge, big topic.
I think the UN sustainability Development Goals are really good for covering all of those things. But at its simple level, it is, do one thing, start on the journey, and that's what we try and encourage people to do who attend this event, and indeed er the event today. And then more pictures and the next slide.
These are all the people that attended last year, we're very much hoping many of those will attend again. And again, we're in a very, very beautiful natural area in the south of France. And I'm excited that hopefully some of you will be able to come along to the event in 12 and 13th of June this year.
Next slide. So yeah, another testimonial there from Ross who I don't think is part of Hills anymore, but we're very much hoping that Hills will also be at the event. Basically showing that you know, hills and Royal Canada are obviously competitor businesses, but in the area of sustainability, we must, must work together to to compete on the environment, on the future of our planet is at best foolish, at worst idiotic.
So it's great to see that Hills have been such a huge supporter of the Veterinary green discussion forum as well. And next slide. So, for corporate businesses to attend, it's 1200 pounds plus VAT.
We had some universities attending last year, we'd love more to attend. But we do have some individual scholarships for vets and nurses in practise who would like to attend. Please get in contact with me at Antony at the webinar vet.com if you're interested.
And we can er put you through a little application process because we want people in the room who are passionate about this area and who can really add to the discussion. You're at this event, there's only a couple of 100 people here, you know, we have many, many vets and nurses throughout the world, so you're still at the vanguard and you know, thank you for paying interest and coming to the event. So I think that probably is the last slide.
I'm gonna pass over to Alan, my good friend Alan Robinson, I don't know if you can switch your camera on. I'm gonna switch mine off, Alan, it's good to see you. I know we're running a bit behind, but I think it's all been good stuff so far.
So you've got a, you've got a high bar to keep up, Alan. Cool, thanks, thanks, Antony. Yeah, and congratulations, well done.
It's a fantastic sustainability summit. I, I really enjoyed listening to Anna and about with the Eagles, that was fascinating. And Andy Torrance, what a man, what a, what a family.
I mean, what Guy and Bing have done since then and what he's done with it is just inspiring, so. Well done, to that. Your sustainability awards are another great innovation and the beauty of that is it's celebrating practises doing good work, but of course what we're here to do today is the VET Trust Awards 2025, this.
This is come up next slide, thanks, Rebecca. This is really, rather than looking at practises, this is looking at the, people and the companies who contribute so much to the profession, so much to practises and help, in the background, like supporting, like, Sponsoring, coming to our events, and being part of that, of course the work they do in practises, continuously, is just fantastic, so this is really the awards, Vetnamics webinar vet, Anthony said we've been doing this about 10 years now. It's, it's a, it's a, a great celebration really for, for the profession as well.
So, next slide, thanks. So with no further ado, what we've got this year is slightly reduced, fine, but we've got 4 awards to be putting out there, and this is awards going to pharmaceutical company, most trust. By vets.
So the important thing is this is a vote by practises. There is no shortlist, there's no recommendations, this is just the practises themselves telling us, which companies that comply. So pharmaceutical, pet food company most trusted, pet insurance company most trusted by vets, and of course the most admired animal charity people out there doing, that sort of work.
So, next slide. So, the pharmaceutical company coming up next, those businesses that are out there, certainly commercial, they have work to do, selling their products, getting it to us, but of course, what most of them do is a huge range of value-added stuff that goes into practises. To help practises develop, help practises on all sorts of things beyond commercial, really people development tools and other such things.
I've worked with many of these companies myself on, on that basis, and I know some of the really, really good work. So we have, and again, like I said, these are nominations from practises. Zoettis, you.
OK, well done. Bohringer, Engleheim, Ilao, MSD, and Siva have all been highly nominated. Other practises as well, but these ones that are out there, and all of them deserve credit for the work they're doing.
But of course, there is only one winner. And the winner is Thank you very much, Siva. So thank you very much.
I think we've got Dan Cripwell with us, technical and marketing manager. Dan, if you're there, can you jump in? Hello, good.
Well done. Well done to Siva, and great work throughout the year. Huge trust by vets.
Any words, any comments from you? Well, first off, absolutely fantastic, thank you very much. Absolutely brilliant to have won that award, and obviously delighted to accept it on behalf of Siva as well.
I think I said initially when I was handed the, the nomination at LVS last year that, that trust pretty much underpins all that we do, you know, the development and maintaining those, those trustworthy relationships, trustworthy and collaborative relationships with, with our customers and vets in practise and providing that valuable support, as you've just said, certainly underpins all, all that we do, and obviously delighted that, The development of those has been recognised by, you know, Vet Dynamics, webinar vet, and most importantly, that wonderful veterinary community in which we all work. So no, thank you very much. Everyone will be delighted when I, when I report back that we've won that.
So thank you very much, Alan, and everyone that was involved and who voted. Fantastic, thank you. Well done, Dan, thank you, and obviously whatever you're doing seems to be working, so keep up the good work.
Super, we certainly will. Thank you and also a massive thank you as well to everyone at Webinar vet for what's been a brilliant summit this afternoon. For what I, what I've been able to watch, it's been, t tremendously interesting and certainly inspiring, so no thank you, it's great.
OK, get Sibra involved, thanks very much. See you then. Take care.
Bye now. OK, next on the list, pet food company, and again these are companies that are really embedded in veterinary practises, they're there and you know, nutrition being one of the, The five key factors of any pillars of, of, health and wellbeing in animals, and all these companies contributing, well, we've heard from Anthony how, you know, Ry Cannon are contributing to his side of it, but we know that Hills, are also hugely in and working with practises and also, giving lots of support. Purina is in there, they're, range of diets also helping.
Now we've got a few add-ins here, some of the smaller companies coming in, which is great, and seeing them coming through. Burns, well done for being here and getting those nominations. Tails.com, you know, a great different business model, competing in different ways and, and delivering, obviously fantastic service to get those votes.
And a new add in, butternut Box, well done guys for coming in on that, and getting those nominations. All of you, I can see are bringing in, you know, the businesses you need to do, but you're doing it because of exactly this trust. But again, we have, someone standing above the rest, so our winner is, thank you.
Hill's pet nutrition. Again, thank you very much. But I would say congratulations to Hills.
I know some of the work they're doing in practises, some of the work to help, really develop new practises and also developing, established practises as well. So. And also Alan doing some great stuff on the environment as we discussed, which is really important.
Yeah, and I think that that's is the key thing with it. And of course, with nutrition, it is central to the whole, piece as well. Thanks for that.
So thank you, well done. Pet insurance, most trusted by vets. So again, we've got a good range of contributors here.
It just goes to show that across the, The profession across the market, no one practise is sort of taking the, the trust there. Every one of these has been nominated for very good reasons, and they're all contributing to that health and wellbeing. And of course, you've gotta remember, for a lot of these businesses, well, with the CMA other investigations, that's sort of what's going on, it's, it's tough times for practises and it's tough times for some of these companies as well to really be, working through that process.
So Veture, well done for being here. Animal friends, with us again, ARIA doing fantastic work out there, Pet Plan UK and NFU Mutual, all delivering good quality, and trusted work. And so for this award, our winner, Is Pet Plan UK.
So Pet Plan, thank you very much. I think we have Holly Smith here, brand management consultant. Holly, hello, how are you?
Congratulations and well done for Pet Plan. Hi, hello, and thank you so much. Yes, I'm so honoured to be here to accept this on behalf of Pet Plan.
This recognition really means so much to us and underscores the long running relationship that we've had with the veterinary profession, which, which is a partnership built on trust, and collaboration, and most importantly, our, our kind of shared commitment, to helping pets get the best care. It's been great to join the summit today to hear some of the amazing initiatives going on, in sustainability and some of the familiar faces from the vet Green discussion forum as well last year, so. Yeah, thank you again to everyone who took the time to vote for us and we look forward to continuing to build on this trust, in the year ahead.
So thank you. Thank you, Holly. Well done, and, you know, congratulations to the vet dynamic.
Congratulations from the webinar vet and from all the practises that you work with. So, thank you very much. OK.
OK. And finally, we have our animal charities out there, and again, a huge range of people doing really, really quite amazing work. We know about the, Excessive numbers of, you know, cats and dogs post COVID that have come through the overwhelming need for these charities and, you know, you see them in the press all the time.
Some of them struggling to really cope with that overload but doing their very best with that. So we have cats protection, very well done. Dogs Trust doing some fantastic work out there.
RSPCA as ever, supplying that baseline of care. Street vet out there in the wilds, doing it, on the street and then with people, and of course PDSA providing that safety net, for pet owners, in the world. So the winner is, thank you very much.
Street vet. Well done. And Jay, I think you're there for Jade Stat, Street Vett co-founder and clinical director.
Jade, hi, how are you? Good to see you. Hi, Alan.
Hi. Thank you so much. For, yeah, I think it's our, I want to say 5th or 6th year of winning this, and that it makes it.
Yeah, hits home every time because obviously, as you say, these are awards that are voted for by by the profession and I've always liked to to think about street as the profession's charity as our professional. Act of kindness, and our way of, of giving back, and I think, yeah, this kind of, yeah, absolutely sort of resonates about why Street bet was created in the first place to allow vets and nurses to to really get back to why they became involved in the profession in the first place and Street vet would not exist if it wasn't for all of these people who are donning backpacks and going out. I like the idea of going out in the wild, and going out in the wild, onto the streets and boots on the ground to to deliver free vet care to to those that really need it.
So, yeah, delighted, yeah, again, to to be in the receiving end of this award. It means an awful lot, and it's, yeah, on behalf of all the volunteers that that do it. Thank you.
Alan, do you think we should just ban street vet next year from getting any votes? Would that be a bit of a habit, isn't it, really, but I think we all feel smug and good vicariously through street vets, so thank you for doing all that good work out there and helping all of it. Feel we're contributing in some way.
Well, you are, you absolutely are backing us, so yeah. But you and every other charity out there as well, I would say, yeah, we need, they need support, but yours in particular is very much a volunteer driven organisation, so really well done. Thank you.
Yeah, thank you so much, Jade. Thanks, Anthony. Thanks Alan for presenting those.
I think that's the last one, isn't it, Alan? That's it, congratulations to everyone, really well done. Not just the winners, but equally all the runners up, fantastic work, for the profession, really appreciated, although you might not hear it all the time, but it really is appreciated by, the profession and everything you're doing.
And Anthony, thank you very much for putting this on. It's been fantastic again.
