Shaping a Sustainable Future for Animal Health
At The Webinar Vet, sustainability is at the heart of what we do, and the VGDF has become a cornerstone event for veterinary professionals who want to drive positive environmental change in their practices, communities and at sector level. Over the past five years the forum has grown into a vital space for conversation, collaboration, and action. This event has been hosted successfully across the UK & France annually since 2022 and we can’t wait to build on that momentum in 2027!

What happened in 2026? A veterinary Conference set in nature, for nature:
5th Veterinary Green Discussion Forum Unites The Profession Around Regenerative Agriculture, Biodiversity & Rewilding And Antibiotic Stewardship
Now in its fifth year, VGDF brought together 58 veterinary and animal health professionals for two days on a regenerative farm in the Camargue — an area of outstanding natural beauty — to debate how the profession can lead on sustainability across three focus topics: Regenerative Agriculture, Biodiversity & Rewilding, and Antibiotic Stewardship.
Participants spanned the species types and the wider system: corporate veterinary groups, trade bodies, regulators, universities, supply chain partners, regenerative farmers, wildlife trusts, sustainability NGOs, veterinary press and startups, alongside 4 students from Cambridge, Surrey, the RVC, VetAgro Sup (Lyons), and LMU Munich and a Member of the Royal Veterinary College Team.
Keynote speaker Margo Mosher, Global Sustainability Head at Mars Veterinary Health set the context around the scientific imperative, the business case, and veterinarians’ unique influence with pet owners, farmers and landowners.
Professor John Gilliland OBE, regenerative farmer and Chair of ARC Zero, shared evidence that regenerative practice can deliver multiple public goods at once — from 1 farm to a 178-farm soil baselining pilot across N.Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
Participants were immersed in nature activities alongside the discussions, including dawn nature walks, a night-time bat walk detecting 8 species; a farm walk with a "dung beetle safari", and marram grass planting to restore coastal sand dunes to mitigate rising sea levels with local conservation group, ReSeaclons.
More than 100 ideas for action were developed using the "Spheres of Influence" framework, spanning individual, workplace, community and societal areas.
