Bio
The Veterinary Management Group (VMG) is the professional association for veterinary leaders, managers, and those aspiring to leadership roles across the veterinary sector.VMG exists to support a happy and healthy veterinary world by helping people lead well and thrive together. It provides practical, profession-specific leadership and management development designed around the realities of veterinary workplaces—where leaders must balance patient care, client expectations, commercial pressures, team wellbeing, and organisational performance.
Its community includes practice managers, clinical directors, business owners, head nurses, team leaders, operational managers, and senior executives working across independent practices, corporate groups, charities, education, industry, and the wider veterinary profession.
VMG’s leadership development offering spans every stage of the leadership journey. Members can access professional resources, events, peer support, development opportunities, and discounted learning, while employers and partner organisations can work with VMG to embed structured leadership development across larger teams and communities.
As an ILM-approved centre, VMG delivers accredited veterinary leadership and management qualifications at Certificate, and Diploma level. These programmes combine recognised leadership theory with practical application to veterinary settings, enabling learners to develop the confidence, judgement, and capabilities needed to lead people and organisations effectively.
VMG also delivers leadership training, webinars, workshops, mentoring, and its annual Congress, bringing together veterinary leaders to explore emerging challenges, share experience, and develop practical solutions. Topics include communication, employee engagement, culture, wellbeing, change, strategy, performance, commercial awareness, and the development of effective teams.
Its approach recognises that strong leadership is not defined solely by seniority or job title. Leadership capability is needed throughout veterinary organisations, from those taking their first steps into management to experienced leaders responsible for complex teams, services, and businesses.
Through its membership, qualifications, events, partnerships, and sector influence, VMG aims to raise leadership standards across the profession and ensure veterinary leaders are better equipped to create workplaces in which people, patients, clients, and organisations can succeed.
Lead well – thrive together.
