Timm Konold studied veterinary medicine in Munich, Germany, graduated in 1993 and received his DrMedVet degree in recognition of his contribution to toxoplasmosis diagnosis 3 years later. Following work as veterinary surgeon in Germany, Ireland and Northern Ireland he joined the Veterinary Laboratories Agency Weybridge (now Animal & Plant Health Agency Weybridge) in 1999 to carry out research in transmissible spongiform encephalopathies in farm animals and has been the author of more than 40 publications on this topic. He was awarded a PhD for his study of the relationship between clinical signs and pathological findings in bovine spongiform encephalopathy in 2011 and is currently working as Named Veterinary Surgeon and veterinary researcher at the Animal & Plant Health Agency Weybridge.
