Bio
Steph Writer-Davies qualified from Bristol in 1984. She spent four years in mixed practice before deciding to concentrate on small animal work. She started her own practice, Mimram Veterinary Centre, in April 1999 that grew to a 3.5 full-time vet equivalent practice which is a Veterinary Nurse Training Centre and Accredited General Practice of the RCVS Practice Standards Scheme. She was elected a council member of SPVS in 2010 and joined the Officer team in 2012, serving as Hon PRO and Hon Editor before becoming Hon President in January 2016. Steph has always been very supportive of the Veterinary Nursing Profession and has been the SPVS VN Liaison since joining council which has included her being involved in discussions relating to VN training at the highest level as well as being invited to be a member of two of the VN Futures working groups (the Career Development and Progression Group and the Training Practice Group). Steph has also provided Expert Witness services for the Disciplinary Committee of the RCVS and is a volunteer Mentor for BSAVA’s mentorship programme. She left her practice at the end of June 2018 to concentrate on other interests and now works with Colourful CPD to develop and deliver CPD courses and continues a clinical role as a part-time locum. She is also an accredited Neuro-linguistic Programming Practitioner.
