Bio

Radford Davis, DVM, MPH, DACVPM, is an Associate Professor within the College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University, where he teaches public health, One Health, and zoonoses to veterinary students with emphasis on the global nature of the problems and the global role of the profession. To meet the growing demand in global health, Dr. Davis created and annually teaches Global Health, a course for undergraduate students. In addition to mentoring numerous graduate and undergraduate students, Dr. Davis communicates daily with practicing veterinarians from around the world who seek advice on zoonotic cases or other public health issues. For many years, Dr. Davis conducted research and training in the area of agroterrorism, but is now focused on working to improve global health by partnering with developing nations to build and improve animal health and public health programs. He has worked with the governments of Mongolia and Sierra Leone and is now in early efforts with the stakeholders of Zambia. In 2010, Dr. Davis worked as a Veterinary One Health consultant for the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, and from 2015-2016 was a visiting professor at the University of Bristol Veterinary School in the UK. Dr. Davis received his DVM from Colorado State University, his MPH from the University of Arizona, and is board certified in the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine.
