- Graduated Bristol University 1983
- Worked in New Zealand in dairy and beef practice for one year in 87 and returned via SE Asia and China
- Chaired British Cattle Vet Association strategic review in 1996, worked as part of the BSE and Health Planning working groups
- Past president of British Cattle Veterinary Association 1999
- Currently Director and Senior Manager of a 28 vet practice in Leicestershire
- Primarily involved in dairy work, consultancy, lecturing and management
- Major interests are in preventive medicine, health planning and practice development
- Particular interests are Johne's disease and cost effective control mechanisms.
- Responsible for developing and adapting USA risk based Johne's control to suit the UK dairy and beef herds
- Trained over 400 UK vets in Johne's control in last 5 years through Operation Johne's, BCVA, SWHLI and Private training
- Trained over 600 farmers in over 30 farmer meetings in Johne's control through Operation Johne's/ SWHLI/ vet farmer meetings in conjunction with milk processors/ NML / private vets
- Co-developed with Dick Sibley the first complete online Johne's control module for myhealthyherd.com which has helped over 2000 herds through risk assessments and control strategies
- Director myhealthyherd.com®: a web health management tool to help vets and farmers improve cattle health.
- Lead UK rapporteur on Johne's for the UK at Sydney and Parma Dairy Paratb Forum
- Papers published at the International Paratuberculosis Conference in Sydney(2012) and Parma (2014).
- Further papers on Johne's published at World Buiatrics conference in Chile ( 2010) and Lisbon( 2012) and BCVA .
- Twice awarded the Tuckey award for the best paper presented by a practitioner at the BCVA Congress
- Lead UK rapporteur for Johne's Action Group UK at ParaTb Forum
- Special Lecturer in Cattle Medicine, Nottingham University
