Paloma Valero

Bio

Paloma is a qualified Veterinary Surgeon, and a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. She qualified as a Veterinary Surgeon in 2004 from the University of Valencia in Spain and moved to the United Kingdom shortly afterwards. She passed the vocational course for Official Veterinarians at Bristol University in 2004 and commenced work for the Food Standards Agency (FSA) as a Meat Hygiene Inspector not long after, before becoming the Official Veterinarian (OV) at a sheep slaughterhouse in Craven Arms, Shropshire.

 

She established her residence in Shrewsbury, county town of Shropshire and birthplace of Charles Darwin. She then gained experience in the food industry by working as an OV at a variety of establishments, from red and white meat abattoirs to game handling establishments, cutting plants and other processing plants.

 

In January 2015 she became a Veterinary Auditor for the FSA, covering the South West of England. As Veterinary Auditor she undertakes work to carry out checks on meat industry businesses to ensure their compliance with the relevant domestic and European Community Regulations in order to ensure that public health is not compromised.

She is a member of the FSA Professional Development and Training (Veterinary & Technical) portfolio, from where the training needs of the vets at FSA are looked after.
