Bio

Since graduating from BSc Wildlife Conservation, and MSc Wildlife Conservation and UAV Technology at Liverpool John Moores University, Molly has been working in both zoo education and field conservation. Molly started her squirrel work by aiding in the set up and management of the Reclaiming Reds project at Knowsley Safari, before moving on to managing the red squirrel project at Lancashire Wildlife Trust. Her current role includes the control of grey squirrels, disease management, volunteer co-ordination, landowner consultation, public education, and population monitoring. In October this year, Molly will begin a PhD with the University of York entitled “Biodiversity and ecosystem service impacts of grey squirrels in current and future treescapes”. This will look at the wider and lesser-known impacts of grey squirrels with the aim to direct consideration to the UK governments plans to expand woodland cover.
