Mike Steele studied at Bristol Veterinary School, working in mixed practice in Northern Ireland and the Cotswolds until gaining a position in Lecturing Farm Animal Science back at Bristol. Here, he developed a 5 year course in Evidence Based Veterinary Medicine which became the basis for RCVS Knowledge Summaries. In 2010, he joined Elanco Animal Health as their Global Ruminant Consultant until 2018, launching Kexxtone and Imrestor. Experience in industry allowed him to develop skills in R&D and work on large herd projects with global partners in many parts of the world. One such project resulted in increasing the milk supply in Pakistan by reducing heat stress in Dairy Cows, improving welfare, income and low-wage labour lifestyles. Mike has his own dairy consultancy business, Inspire Cattle Solutions and is the Technical Director for the feed additive company, Micron Bio-Systems.
