Bio

Mike graduated from the Royal Veterinary College, University of London in 1976. He owned his own veterinary practice for more than 11 years and has worked in academia at the Veterinary Schools of the Universities of London where he was director of the Beaumont Animal Hospital and at Nottingham where he was Associate Professor running Final Year clinical rotations. He has also worked full-time or as a consultant in the pet food industry (he was Director of Scientific Affairs for Hill’s in UK, Ireland and Scandinavia when they launched into Europe) and pharmaceutical companies including Fort Dodge, Pfizer, and Hoechst. Mike has postgraduate Certificates in Veterinary Radiology and Small Animal Orthopaedics and a Diploma in Small Animal Clinical Nutrition as well as a special interest in Geriatrics having written one of the first books on Geriatric Veterinary Medicine. He has published widely on nutrition and geriatric topics and, most recently in 2022, published a book on “Clinical signs in humans and animals associated with minerals, trace elements and rare earth elements” . He has lectured widely across the UK and Europe including at the European Geriatric Medicine Society Conference. He is an RCVS Specialist in Small Animal Clinical Nutrition and is working as an independent consultant and Managing Director of Provet Limited.
