Mike Curran is the CEO of XLVets Ireland, the leading Veterinary network in Ireland with over 45 independent clinics across the country. Based in Limerick, Ireland, and with more than 25 years of experience, Mike is recognised as an innovative and transformational leader with a strong track record of high performance.
Besides the fact that his contribution to companies in his career has received high profile awards for excellence, Mike is a dedicated, self-motivated and multi-skilled individual who has proven to effectively lead and manage very large and dispersed teams, modelling the highest standards of customer care, design and implementing efficiency processes.
As the head of XLVets Ireland, he leads this network of 27 veterinary businesses with 47 clinics to success, reaching €100M in revenue per year. In his role, he also coordinates collaborative projects, delivers performance review, mentors and supports new recruits & businesses into the best they can be, among other things. XLVets Ireland is a cooperative of independent businesses, with a subsidiary, XLVets Skillnet, which receives government funding, destined for research and training, within the veterinary industry.
Mike has extensive experience in multiple industries; driving value through the design & implementation of sustainable change. Having achieved a 1st in a Master of Business Studies in 2017, Mike continued education with Project Management in University of Limerick, Negotiations in Trinity, Leadership with the IRFU, Green Belt in Lean Six Sigma and diplomas in Corporate Governance and ESG. Notable achievements include a Top 1% MBS result, published peer viewed articles in Journals of Retail & Distribution Management and Reproduction in Domestic Animals, case study by leading global firm, conference speaker, winner of national awards. In his downtime, Mike, living in Co. Clare, enjoys food, achieving finalist Masterchef Ireland, coaching Rugby and Football teams, running, swimming, fishing, boats and all adventures outdoors.
