Bio

Luc Durel is currently working at Virbac with the position of Global Technical & Medical Information Manager for the ruminant segment. He graduated in 1989 with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the National Veterinary College of Nantes (France). He also has an 18-year long background as a practicing vet in the dairy-oriented regions of the North-West of France, as well as technical service director in a large cattle breeder association of Normandy. Dr. Durel is particularly interested in the bovine herd health management, diagnostic of cattle diseases, mineral nutrition in ruminants, cow mastitis and quality of raw milk. He developed and promoted continuing education programs for veterinary practitioners on the in-practice bacteriological diagnostic of clinical mastitis, and the management of foodborne pathogens in areas of raw milk cheeses in France. Dr. Durel is a member or former member of learned societies such as the Société Nationale des Groupements Techniques Vétérinaires (France), the National Mastitis Council (USA) and the American Association of Bovine Practitioners (USA). He authored many publications on herd health and udder health in dairy cows.
