Obtained my PhD from the University of London in 1998 for my thesis on 'Breeding Problems in the Mare'. I then went into general equine practice for six years working in the UK during their breeding season before heading to the southern hemisphere for their breeding season. Awarded RCVS Certificate in 1991 in Equine Stud Medicine. In 1994 I took a two-year position as Associate Professor of Equine Reproduction at the University of Utrecht developing a special interest in artificial insemination and assisted reproductive technologies. Awarded Diploma in Equine Stud Medicine in 1994 and in 1995 became an RCVS Specialist in Equine Reproduction. Returned to the UK in 1997 to begin Equine Reproductive Services (ERS), a first opinion and referral private equine practice in Yorkshire. This is now an eight-person practice and I currently act as a consultant for them both in the UK and overseas. In 2012 I took up a position as one of the three Equine Claims Consultants at The Veterinary Defence Society Limited. I worked in this capacity until September 2023 when I left to focus on my part-time role as Consultant with ERS and various teaching roles in the UK and overseas.
