Bio

Helen is an owner practitioner at Old Hall Vets, a small animal practice in the rural community of Appleby Cumbria. She moved here in 1997 as a stop gap before returning overseas to work (she had been a VSO volunteer teaching Animal Health in remote Nepal). That never happened as she met her husband and somehow stayed! She has a special interest in acupuncture which she studied in China in the late 80's and has since used frequently in practice including referrals.

Helen has always been a keen environmentalist and she and her now late husband built an underground eco-house, featured on Grand Designs. She still lives there with her two sons and various animals, enjoying a warm house which requires no heating. A blessing in these times.

Over the last 10 years she has led the greening of Old Hall Vets culminating in the Greenest Vet Practice award in 2022 shared with Davies vets and later in the year the Investors in the Environment Green award.
