Dr Zoe Belshaw is a veterinary surgeon with a clinical specialism in small animal internal medicine. She received a PhD from the University of Nottingham in 2017 for investigating welfare assessment in canine osteoarthritis. She was awarded the BSAVA Petsavers Award in 2020 for contributions to clinical aspects of small animal practice in its widest context by a qualified veterinarian, and Fellowship of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2025. She has worked in general practice, referral clinics, university teaching hospitals and charity practice, led the production of the COVID-19 triage tool and chaired the WSAVA Global Continuing Education committee. She currently undertakes collaborative mixed methods research on how veterinary professionals, owners and families make health and welfare decisions about dogs.
