Dr Russell Chandler

Bio

Russell is a small animal orthopaedic surgeon, working in a primary care and referral hospital in South Wales. He has a passion about multi-disciplinary teamwork and ensuring the best combination therapy is used for rehabilitation of post-surgical and pain management of cats and dogs. Russell Chandler graduated from Bristol Veterinary School in 1987. During a four-year period working in Hong Kong, he gained the RCVS certificate in Small Animal Orthopaedics in 1995. For over twenty years he ran his own orthopaedic referral service in South Wales. In 2010 Russell was the first vet to gain the human orthopaedic surgeons’ MSc in Orthopaedic Engineering from Cardiff University. He was awarded RCVS Advanced Practitioner status in 2015 and gained an MSc in Stem Cells and Regeneration from the University of Bristol in 2023. In 2024 he starts a new job in Singapore working within their biggest veterinary group as a referral orthopaedic surgeon. One or Russell’s current interests is in developing a team approach to multimodal management of osteoarthritis in practice. His talk will cover both clinical aspects of using Class IV laser therapy, and the benefits in speed of healing, pain management, teamwork & financial returns.
