Bio

Ian graduated from Bristol University in 1998. Following 2.5yrs working in mixed/first opinion practice he returned to Bristol for a residency in Small Animal Internal Medicine, and was awarded the RCVS and European Diplomas and Specialists Status in Small Animal Internal Medicine in 2005. The majority of his clinical career was spent at Davies Veterinary Specialists, where he held a number of positions including clinician, head of medicine and director. Between 2022-2025 he held the position of Global Pharmaceutical Stewardship lead for Mars Veterinary Health and now works as an independent consultant alongside working with charities working in One Heath sphere . He conceptualised and lead the team that developed the BSAVA PROTECT ME antibiotic prescribing scheme launched in 2012 and subsequently was awarded the BSAVA Melton award in 2013. In 2013 he became founding chairman of Mission Rabies for 10 years and currently is a trustee of Worldwide Veterinary Service, Mission Rabies and the Bella Moss foundation. He was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons for Meritorious Contributions to Clinical Practice in 2017.
