Dr Fiona Cooke

Bio

Fiona is currently Head of Specialist Services at Woodgreen Pets Charity, leading the Vet surgery team, Behaviour and Training team, and Research team. She is passionate about supporting animals in the rescue environment and with the transition into new homes. With a PhD in Public Law and Animal Welfare Policy, an MSc in Clinical Animal Welfare and Behaviour, and an MA in Law, she has worked in the animal welfare sector for over 18 years, including in international roles. Fiona is a trustee of the Animal Behaviour and Training Council (ABTC), a Clinical Animal Behaviourist for dogs and cats, and lectures in Law at the Open University. She is a strong advocate for the application of research to practice and has published widely on animal welfare, including the importance of how we use language when talking about animals. At home, Fiona lives with Floyd, a working cocker spaniel, and various visiting foster animals on their way to new homes.
