Dr David Hetherington is an ecologist and leading expert on the Eurasian lynx and wildlife reintroduction in the UK. As Ecology Advisor at the Cairngorms National Park Authority, he has played a key role in native species recovery, including the Cairngorms Wildcat Project. His PhD research explored the feasibility of reintroducing lynx to Scotland, showing that the landscape and prey base could support their return.

David is the author of The Lynx and Us, an accessible guide to lynx ecology and rewilding, and a frequent contributor to media and public discussions on large carnivore conservation. Passionate about restoring balance to ecosystems, he brings scientific depth and practical insight to the conversation on coexistence with wildlife.
