Bio

Dan Tipney is co-founder and Training Director at VetLed, where he brings a background in Human Factors from the aviation sector into veterinary practice. A former airline pilot, Dan spent years delivering Human Factors training within airlines before moving, over the past decade, to apply the same principles in veterinary settings — non-technical skills such as communication, team dynamics, leadership and decision-making, and the systems and cultures that support patient safety and team wellbeing. In 2020, Dan stopped flying altogether, driven primarily by concern over aviation's environmental impact. That decision led him deep into both the science of climate change and its human dimensions: how people engage with a topic that can feel overwhelming, and the behavioural and systemic barriers standing in the way of meaningful action. He found a natural overlap between this work and his background in Human Factors, which led him to train as a facilitator in tools including Climate Fresk. He now delivers these workshops as part of VetLed's non-clinical training portfolio, helping veterinary teams build both the scientific understanding and the practical tools to adapt to, and mitigate climate change.
