Bio
Dan worked in general practice for 22 years up to 2009, latterly running his own companion animal practice in Kent for 12 years. During these years, he developed a particular interest in exotic medicine and especially rabbits. Frustrated by the poor level of clinical evidence relevant to first opinion practice, he undertook a PhD (2010-2014) at the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) to develop the VetCompass™ Programme. He was appointed to Senior Lecturer in Companion Animal Epidemiology at the RVC in 2017.
Dan has published over 90 peer-reviewed publications since 2012. He has co-authored three books: ‘Breed Predispositions to Disease in Dogs and Cats’, ‘Health and Welfare of Brachycephalic (Flat-faced) Companion Animals’ and ‘Hamsters in Sickness and in Health’. He chairs the UK Brachycephalic Working Group.
