Bio

Caroline Allen FRCVS is a veterinary surgeon and animal welfare expert with thirty years of experience across clinical practice and senior leadership. She spent eight years as Chief Veterinary Officer at the RSPCA, providing welfare oversight and veterinary advice across clinical services, inspectorate, and national policy, and driving welfare-led change at a strategic level. Caroline is a Fellow of the RCVS and a trustee of the BVA Animal Welfare Foundation. She is the founder of Pet Lighthouse, a consultation service providing whole-animal second opinions and quality-of-life assessments, working transparently alongside GP vets to support owners navigating complexity or difficult welfare decisions. She is co-authoring a book on contextualised care in veterinary practice, forthcoming with Wiley.
