Redefining Rest: How VetRelieve is Transforming Sleep in Veterinary Care
At VetRelieve our mission is to change the way the veterinary industry thinks about sleep.
In healthcare settings, human or veterinary, patient comfort and recovery begin with proper support and quality sleep.
We are focused on developing products and education around sleep hygiene, pressure care, and the changing needs of patients at different stages of recovery or disease management.
Taking learning and gold standards from the NHS, including end of life care, respite care and acute care, we have developed a unique range of kennel mattresses, physiotherapy mattresses and orthopaedic pet beds.
These products are designed to change the way that we think about rest as part of our therapeutic plans for patients. Quality sleep isn't just a luxury, it's a fundamental component of recovery. Just as in human medicine, sleep hygiene is critical for patients undergoing treatment, recuperating from surgery or living with chronic pain conditions. Alongside appropriate medical, surgical and environmental management, proper sleep can accelerate the healing process, reduce stress and improve both physical and emotional well-being.
We are proud to say that at VetRelieve, our products are designed with sleep hygiene front and centre, helping ensure that your patients not only rest, but do so in a manner that enhances their care.
Our VetRest Duo is one of our flagship products and is an industry-leading kennel mattress.
The dual-sided design is specifically designed to support your patients throughout their journey with you.
This journey often starts with recumbency, either when very unwell or post-surgery, and moves to an animal able to mobilise, or as mobilisation being a part of their journey towards discharge.
Both recumbent patients and mobile patients require different types of surfaces in order to give them the right care and confidence, but as both states are often found in the same individual throughout their stay, how can this be managed in practice?
Our VetRest Duo's have a pressure relief side, for when your patient is recumbent, and a firmer active side to support mobilisation and stability.
Choosing the right side to support your patient at different stages of their recovery our VetRest Duos allow you to quickly and easily provide different support surfaces depending on your patient's needs, without excess bedding or additional time. The ease of quickly flipping the mattress versus trying to achieve a similar outcome with soft bedding or multiple mattresses means that washing is reduced, the right support surface is more likely to be provided and storage needs are lessened. Ultimately, this means both time and money are saved, while patient care is improved.
These mattresses are suitable for canine, feline and many exotics patients, including rabbits.
Not only are the VetRest Duos industry-leading with their two-sided capability, but we also have two types: our standard dependency and our high dependency. Our standard dependency is suitable for patients who are likely to be recumbent for 24 hours or less, and our high dependency, featuring a top-of-the-range memory foam, is specifically designed for patients likely to be recumbent for more than 24 hours. These are especially useful in ICU style settings.
As well as being designed specifically for the changing needs of patients, they are also engineered for clinical environments. The VetRest duo features welded seams and an antimicrobial, antifungal healthcare fabric, which supports infection control. Mattresses come with a built-in vent that allows the mattress to pressure set to the patient's weight and prevents trapped air. The mattress can come unvented at your request, which we would recommend if being used in areas such as an infection control ward.
When we designed the products, we also discovered that traceability was a big problem for nurses in practice. That's why there are two NFC tags in our products, one containing the cleaning and care instructions, and the second you can program yourselves. This second tag can be used for any information that is helpful to your clinic, for example, ward or kennel numbers, or even the last time they were cleaned. For large practices, we routinely colour code for each ward, to prevent mattresses 'wandering off'.
As standard, the VetRest Duos come in five sizes, but if you need a specific colour or some tricky sizing, that's not a problem.
We manufacture in South Yorkshire, which means we can be really agile around the specific needs of your practice and anything that makes your practice unique, be that L-shaped kennels, a need for a water-bowl cut out, a requirement for two pieces to fit together... the list is endless.
