Description

Caring for wild bird patients can be both challenging and rewarding.  A practice is more likely to see wild bird patients mainly in spring; however, juveniles and adults can be brought in throughout the year.  There is no strict rule.  The importance of knowing what to do from the initial contact from a member of the public, to the patient’s release back into the wild, can have a large impact on them and if they are able to recover successfully.
Sometimes, it may not possible to release them back to the wild as they could have injuries that will impede their survival if they are released.  With this type of patient, it may be kinder and more cost effective to euthanise them.  There could also be those patients whom recover well and can be released.  This webinar will discuss:

How to care for the patient, from the initial point of contact
How to undertake a successful clinical examination of the patient
Treatment protocols
Identification of the species
General husbandry
Imprinting
Release to the wild

There will be a short quiz and a question and answer session directly after the webinar; however, Claire would be very happy to answer questions by email.
