Description
In this webinar Postgraduate Dean, Jill Hubbard explains the importance of the Professional Development Phase (PDP) in helping new graduates gain confidence and develop their clinical skills in the first year of practice. Whether you are a veterinary student, graduate or an employer, this webinar will help you understand the purpose of the PDP and how it sets up young veterinary surgeons for the rest of their practising lives. The PDP is a self-assessment system that aims to instil a conscious and conscientious approach to professional learning. It provides a structure for the new graduate (and for others returning to practice after a break) to reflect on their progress in developing their confidence and competence across a number of clinical areas, measured against the general RCVS Year One Competences. Jill Hubbard qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in 1975. She bought a mixed practice in Caernarfon in 1978 with her husband Neil, and went on to achieve an ophthalmology certificate in 1983. She is an organiser of BVA North Wales’ young graduate meetings, and has been an RCVS Postgraduate Dean since 2011. Postgraduate Deans are responsible for checking graduates’ progress, responding to queries, monitoring learning records and confirming completion of the Professional Development Phase.
